Old Point Loma Lighthouse
Built in 1855 and 422 feet above sea level it served San Diego Bay for 36 years. It had, however, one flaw. Because of the elevation, the light was frequently obscured by fog and low clouds. The light was extinguished in 1891 and the keeper moved to the new location near the water at the tip of what is now Ballast Point Light Station
at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park.
