Matanuska Glacier

Matanuska Glacier

Matanuska glacier in Alaska is the largest glacier in the US hat is accessible by car. You still have to hike about a mile to get to the actual glacier but it is worth it! The glacier is 27 miles long, 4 miles wide and at its deepest point, 5,000 feet deep. The terminus is 500 feet above water level and 1,000 feet below.

Our guide predicted the ice bridge, on the highest peak, would collapse within a week.
